DEFINIZIONE
  • An expression from the French meaning a silk warp-pile weave in which the pile is cut with a small knife after weaving. Before the pile warp is woven, the pattern is printed on it and only those printed areas are cut. Generally, it follows a tabby binding and the pile warp is usually an 8-or10-end satin with a supplementary point of binding to secure the ends in the pile areas.
