DÉFINITION
- n. From the medieval Latin "calendra" "celendra" "cylindrus" and the French "calandre". A machine or device that has two or more rollers (cylinders, bowls) whose surfaces touch and make pressure on fabric passes between them for the purpose of smoothing or glazing, or for creating diverse effects as giving a lustrous effect, embossing, watering or giving a wavy appearance.
