DÉFINITION
- n. From the Latin "stola". A liturgical vestment in the shape of a narrow strip, generally of silk or linen, worn by priests or deacons during ceremonies. The way it is worn differs from the priest (over the shoulders) than from deacons (over the left shoulder only and hanging down to the knee or lower).
