Elizabethan style
DÉFINITION
- A style that describes the art and architecture produced in England during the reign of Elizabeth I (1558–1603). Netherlandish influence was strongly felt in both sculpture and ornament, and in the decorative arts embroidery was highly prized.Typical features included a love of symmetry, extensive fenestration, and the use of carved ornamental strapwork.
