Waste silk  
DEFINITION
  • The spinnable fibers resulting from processing silk; damaged cocoons, waste caused by searching for the beginning of a continuous filament while reeling silk, or the inner section of a cocoon out of which moths have been allowed to escape. When spun, this yarn is less lustrous than filament silk yarn. It is mostly used as warp or weft in a fabric, or for products such as ribbon and sewing thread.
