DEFINITION
- n. From the Old English "ęcg" and Middle English "egge" "agge" "hegge" among others. The trimming of the edge, that is, the trimming which forms an edge to anything; a border, fringe, etc. sewn on the edge of a garment; a border surrounding a flower-bed; and the like.
