DEFINITION
  • It refers to a silk velvet with four negative twill basement. Lyon velvet was analogous to the Spanish velvets of the 16th and 17th centuries. Lyon velvet used to be woven at 20, 25 and 30 covers, for a 50 cm width, and the warp density varied from 18 to 30 irons per centimeter.
