DEFINITION
- n. From the Old English "scóh", "scó" "sceó" the Middle English "sceoh" "shoo" "shooe" and inherited from the Common Germanic. It refers to an outer item to wear on the human foot which could be made from several materials. It consists of a sole and a upper part, commonly covering until the ankle.
