DEFINITION
- n. A term borrowed from French, combined with English elements and modelled on an Italian item. A decorative pattern consisting of flowing lines (typically of branches, leaves, and flowers) that scroll or interlace. Also as a mass noun: decoration or ornamentation employing patterns of this type.
