L'ananas est une broméliacée découverte par Christophe Colomb en Guadeloupe à la fin du XVe. s. Ce fruit tropical a pourtant été cultivé en France, à Choisy-le-Roi au début du XVIIIe s. C'est à partir de ce moment-là qu'il devient un motif ornemental, notamment dans la décoration des étoffes au XVIIIe s. Le nom a été repris par la maison Henry Truchot en 1924.
