Jardiniere style
DEFINITION
- A style which denotes bright fabrics of varied colours, which due to the numerous flowers that create the composition are called Jardinière. They appear at the end of the 15th century, but they are consolidated in clothing and decoration in the 17th century. Brocaded silks were used in clothing, while velvets were used in furniture and walls. Lyon designs stand out for their color harmony and general distribution. On the other hand, they were also executed in Italy and the Genoese velvets were especially recognized.
