  • n. A term borrowed from the French "gobelins" "Manufacture des Gobelins". The term takes its name fro the great tapestry-weaving centres of Europe, Gobelins. The term is generally used to refer to the pictorical tapestry-woven hangings, characterized by their details. Also, in old literature it is found and referred to a tapestry technique.
