Jacquard loom
DEFINITION
- The Jacquard loom, or more concretely, the jacquard attatchment to a loom, is a mechanism to automate the raising and lowering of individual warp threads with the aim of weave more complex designs. Joseph-Marie Jacquard (1752-1834) acquired the patent in 1801. It has benn a revolution in the weaving industry.
